We are seeking a passionate and ethically-driven Buyer to join our Purchasing Team!

Often this involves a great deal of creative thinking and finding solutions to problems, such as sourcing the finest essential oils and absolutes, the best natural raw materials, safe synthetics, 100% recycled packaging or removing Palm oil from our products.
About the role:
The key aim of a Lush Buyer is to source the best quality raw materials and packaging, from local and global suppliers, at prices that support the profitability of the business whilst working to our goal of ‘Leaving the world lusher than we found it’.
Identifying new suppliers, ensuring compliance with our ethical policies and negotiating the best prices and lead times to meet the needs of Manufacturing will be key, working in a way that supports our vision of creating 100% regenerative supply webs.
This is a full-time role based predominantly at our office in Villawood, NSW. Some travel will be required to visit local suppliers.
Core Responsibilities:
- Develop a Buying strategy for the ANZ Region that supports the business strategy, ensuring product quality and price meets Lush specifications and complies with the Lush Ethical Buying Policy and People Care, Earth Care & Fair Share Policy.
- Ensuring that the raw materials, packaging and essential components required to meet the production schedule have been sourced and are available for procurement when required by the business.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers, whilst also connecting with new sources that align with Lush ethics, with the aim of providing the business with a resilient supply chain for all materials used in the production of our products.
- Conducting first-point negotiations with suppliers ensuring that the supplier can meet Lush’s volume requirements (including seasonal peak demands) and all materials are cost-effective and meet Lush’s quality standards and specifications
- Develop supply chain resilience, ensuring that where possible, backup suppliers are in place for all key materials
- Conduct regular reviews of supplier capacity, pricing and quality, including a market overview for the ANZ Region which highlights market movements and opportunities to re-negotiate and contract;
- Develop and maintain quality checks with production rooms to ensure that materials purchased meet Lush specifications
- Develop strong Lush buying stories that align with the Regions Brand strategy.
- Liaise with the Brand and PR team on storytelling opportunities that align with the Brand and Marketing strategy, taking a lead role in facilitating supplier visits and assisting in proofing the outcomes of these trips and projects
- Collaborate across timezones with our Global Buying Network
- Support any new projects or product requirements by identifying suitable locally sourced suitable materials and identifying new, innovative materials to inspire Product Inventors
- Identify opportunities for improvement in the supply chain and procurement functions and implement change as required.

- Good understanding of sustainability principles and able to apply these to supply chains
- A Strategic thinker that can develop and deliver the local Buying strategy in line with the Global vision and collaborate with global teams
- Proven Project Management Experience
- Experience in a procurement or supply chain role.

Salary
- $90,000 - $110,000 AUD + super and benefits
